British Artisan - just for us!
Brown and Green is delighted to have teamed up with an artisan producer to create a bespoke and exciting new range of chutneys and preserves - the British Artisan range
Susie, co-founder and Director of Brown and Green has been chief taster, and came up with the idea for the fresh new range of products which are presented in beautiful globe jars and simply labelled with the Union Jack in pride of place on the lid.
Mike Dentith, an artisan producer local to Brown and Green’s Trentham store, took up the mantle and tirelessly adapted recipe after recipe till each product was perfected and the range complete. He and Susie have worked closely together on every element of the development and they are both very proud of the results - the proof of the pudding will of course be in the eating, so we hope you enjoy them!
Susie explains the background of the British Artisan brand “I had been mulling over the idea of a quality ‘own branded’ range for some time, but essential to me was the total transparency for the customer in terms of who and where the product is made, and also to support genuine small and artisan producers. There are so many farm shops and garden centres which stock own label goods, but provide no honest information about where those products are made and who makes them. This leads me to think they are probably mass produced, and not that unique at all. That is not what Brown and Green is about, we believe our customers are very interested in who, where, how and why their food and drink is made - we certainly are!
We are passionate about the integrity of our produce, and suppporting and celebrating local and artisan food and drink producers.
So, British Artisan has been launched as our own umbrella brand for unique, British products, made by hand by small producers. Mike from Mike’s Homemade has been a pleasure to work since we met when Brown and Green opened, and we are delighted to be working closely with him and developing both our businesses.”
The range is exclusive to Brown and Green and our partners Blue Diamond, and is currently available at Brown and Green’s Trentham, Derby and Newent stores - as well as within in the food department in Trentham Garden Centre.
